High-profile Toronto cop convicted of impaired driving pleads guilty to police act charges

A well-known Toronto police officer has pleaded guilty before a police disciplinary tribunal on discreditable conduct charges stemming from impaired driving.

Insp. Chris Boddy, a 30-year veteran who was the face of the Toronto Police Service's 2019 gun buyback program, entered the plea to the Police Services Act charges Thursday.

According to documents from the tribunal, Boddy was arrested and charged criminally last August. He pleaded guilty on Dec. 23, and was sentenced to 12 months of probation, a 14-month driving prohibition, and a $3,000 fine.

Boddy was most recently assigned as second-in-command of the force's Wellness Unit. He was suspended with pay after he was charged.

He was also active on social media, with 44,000 people following him on Twitter.

Toronto police say both Boddy's defence and the prosecution put forward their submissions on a penalty Thursday, and the hearing officer will return at a later date with a decision.

Janelle Monáe Says She’s Non-Binary: ‘I Just Don’t See Myself As a Woman, Solely’

Janelle Monáe announced on the April 20 episode of “Red Table Talk” that she is non-binary (via NBC News). The Grammy nominee previously came out as pansexual in a 2018 Rolling Stone cover story. Monáe said at the time that she originally identified as bisexual but “later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.” Pansexuality is an attraction to people regardless of their gender or sex.

“I’m nonbinary, so I just don’t see myself as a woman, solely,” Monáe said on “Red Table Talk. “I feel all of my energy. I feel like God is so much bigger than the ‘he’ or the ‘she.’ If I am from God, I am everything. I am everything, but I will always, always stand with women. I will always stand with Black women. But I just see everything beyond the binary.”

Why is Blac Chyna suing the Kardashians?

The Kardashians and Blac Chyna are squaring off in court this month to determine whether the reality TV family defamed the model and conspired to ruin her career.

The trial, which is expected to last about a week, stems from Chyna's $100-million lawsuit in 2017 that accused the Kardashians of defamation and contract interference.

Chyna — whose legal name is Angela White — was previously engaged to reclusive reality star Rob Kardashian, with whom she shares a 2-year-old daughter.

Jury selection in the case began Monday in Los Angeles, where potential jurors aired their grievances about the Kardashians and the brand of reality TV they represent. Eight male and eight female jurors — including four alternates — were selected to hear the case during a trial presided over by Superior Court Judge Gregory W. Alarcon, according to the Associated Press.
